Welcome to the official website of the North Carolina Museums Council. This website is owned and operated by the North Carolina Museums Council, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. 

NCMC is committed to protecting the privacy of our visitors. By accessing this website, visiting our pages and provided resources, or joining as a member, you are accepting the terms and practices detailed in our Privacy Policy. Please note that many of the features to our website are accessible to our members only. We will make updates to this statement periodically.

NCMC accepts no liability or responsibility for inaccurate or misleading information found on our website and those of its affiliates. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure the accuracy and usefulness of all provided information, services, and resources. NCMC, its board, and anyone responsible for overseeing this website will not be held responsible for any damages or lost revenue resulting from the use or inability to use NCMC’s website, communications, linked resources, or any other associated information. By using NCMC's website and services, you agree to hold harmless and indemnify NCMC, its board, and its affiliates from any liability, loss, claim, demand, and expense resulting from use of organizational-related materials.

Personal identification information

NCMC collects personal identification information from users when they:

  • Join as a member of NCMC

  • Make donations or payments to NCMC. Please note that NCMC uses secure transaction methods (SSL) when collecting credit card information during such transactions. NCMC does not share such credit card information provided by our members or other visitors with third parties.

  • Register for conferences and events

  • Participate in surveys or polls designed to gain members’ opinions on NCMC programming and benefits. Participation in the surveys and/or polls is optional. Opinions and responses are not identifiable to any particular user

  • Post and participate in our members-only discussion forums

  • Subscribe to and receive NCMC communications, including our newsletter MuseNews

  • Complete requisite forms 

  • Interact with any other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our website

  • Users can always refuse to supply personal identification information and unsubscribe to NCMC-related communications; however, such actions may prevent them from engaging in certain site-related activities and membership benefits

When a visitor provides personal information to NCMC, we use it for the purposes for which it was provided to us as stated at the point of collection or as obvious from the context of the collection. NCMC shares lists of active membership as well as those who register for NCMC conferences with sponsors. NCMC sometimes shares your information with a third-party service provider, Wild Apricot, who helps us deliver our services. Whenever possible or required by law, such sharing of information will be subject to an agreement with each such service provider, requiring such service provider to comply with all relevant data protection regulations.

As a member of NCMC, your professional association will be listed on our membership map and your email address shared with our conference sponsors and corporate members unless you alert the membership team that you wish to be excluded. 

Non-personal identification information

NCMC may collect non-personal identification information about our site’s visitors, including browser name, the type of computer and technical information about means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and used Internet service providers.

Web browser cookies

The NCMC website may use “cookies” to enhance visitor experience. Users may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies, or to alert them when cookies are being sent. Turning off “cookies” may impact website functionality.

Modifications

We may amend this privacy policy from time to time; please review it periodically. We maintain the option to modify this policy at any time and provide updates accordingly.
