What is FOCoS?
FOCoS is Free On-Site Consultation Services (FOCoS) that provides advice and guidance to small or emerging museums using the resources and expertise found in established museums around the state. As a result of FOCoS, not only do museums receive valuable feedback on their programs and operations, but the museum community and Council are strengthened through the collaborative effort of professionals reaching out to share their knowledge of the field.

We want to take a moment to honor our friend and fellow board member, Karl McKinnon, who passed away recently. Karl was a founding member of the Grassroots Science Museums Collaborative early 1990s. As the North Carolina Science Network noted, "Karl’s most significant impact within North Carolina museums was his excitement and passion for the industry and making it accessible to all children regardless of age, interest, or economic ability. His love for museums and passion for life-long learning were infectious." He will be missed greatly.
