The North Carolina Museums Council is proud to present a workshop in collaboration with the American Alliance of Museums, with a generous sponsorship from Glave & Holmes Architecture and support from the North Carolina Museum of Art.
In an effort to create a world informed and enriched by thriving museums, the American Alliance of Museums began its unprecedented Facing Change: Advancing Museum Diversity and Inclusion initiative in 2019. This national pilot program, funded by the Alice Walton, Mellon, and Ford foundation is the first of its kind, and was established to improve museum board diversity and inclusion across the nation. Since this journey began to build a more diverse, inclusive, and ultimately equitable museum field, AAM has learned much. Join this conversation as we share the learnings from our first two years of implementing a nation-wide, museum field DEAI initiative.

Presenter
Ibrahim is a United States Air Force Veteran, holds a BA in History from the University of Toledo, an MA in Museum Professions, and a Graduate Certificate of Non-Profit Organization Management from Seton Hall University. A firm believer that museums have the potential to change lives, Ibrahim created a pilot program, Museums 4 Us, to improve academic achievement among marginalized students and expose a severely underrepresented population to career possibilities within the museum profession. He is now responsible for the development and implementation of project management processes for various components of Facing Change: Advancing Museum Board Diversity & Inclusion, a major national initiative to advance diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion among museum leadership.
