Internship Award

NCMC's Summer Internship Award aids both a Museum and an Intern.

How can my institution apply?

Award
NCMC will provide one institution $1500 to pay an intern for summer 2023.

Eligibility
Applicants must be NCMC institutional members at the time of the application and internship.

Deadline
Applications must be received no later than January 31, 2023.

Application Process

To apply, complete the application form that requests the following information:

  • Discuss a specific project or area of focus for the intern and the desired final product or outcome of the intern’s work.
  • Describe core tasks for the intern that connects his or her work to the institution’s larger mission.
  • Outline the ways the intern will be integrated into the daily workings of the staff.
  • Share the methods of mentoring and supervising the intern.

In addition, you may include any benefits your institution can offer the intern, if applicable, such as housing, meals, additional funds, transportation, parking or other benefits.

Requirements of Award

The museum selected to host the summer 2023 intern agrees to publicly advertise the internship position for at least one month, preferably in March, and to hold an open application process. The advertisement must be emailed to the Student Affairs Chair so that it can be disseminated and posted on the NCMC website.

Applicants will be notified about the status of the award in early March.

I want to be the Summer Intern at the selected institution. How do I apply?

Once an institution has been selected to receive NCMC's Internship Award, that institution will send a position description to NCMC. That internship description, along with application instructions will be posted here.
