The NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is the Cabinet-level state agency that oversees 42 state parks, 27 state historic sites, 11 museums, 4 aquariums, the Zoo, the State Library, the State Archives and many other agencies that promote art, history, science and education. The Department is looking to hire a part-time (<29 hours/week), temporary (11 months) Development professional/grant writer! The hourly rate will be up to $27/hour, depending on qualifications. Responsibilities

The Development Coordinator reports to the Manager of Development and Special Projects by performing a myriad of duties. These include conducting funding research (including identifying grant leads, corporate giving programs and private donors), writing sponsorship request letters and all elements of grant proposal applications, including detailed narratives, budgets, budget justifications and supporting documents. The position will also assist with record-keeping and reporting requirements of the grants received and monitor grant recipient adherence to the proposed budget as well as to state and federal rules and regulations governing grant expenditures. This is an entry-mid level position.

Primary duties include processing, recording, and assisting with gathering components of grant applications, monitoring awards for compliance, processing reimbursement requests, monitoring monthly budgets and writing reports. The position works with the Manager of Development and Special Projects and collaborates closely with the entire Department to ensure accurate programmatic and financial reporting and procedural compliance on all grants and sponsorships. This is a highly collaborative position.

Qualifications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Two years of grant writing experience and college degree preferred.

Hiring Salary Range: $20-27/HR
